Tessa, I’m Playing Poet

You in your basement, wheedling her,
she of the pouty smile.
Then peering out the gauzy window,
could’ve sworn you saw
a cougar, rustling silk
of grass. She said, are
you off your rocker, and you’d
just coughed, the weight of
the world on your shoulders.
