Tessa, I’m Playing Poet

You in your basement, wheedling her,
she of the pouty smile.
Then peering out the gauzy window,
could’ve sworn you saw
a cougar, rustling silk
of grass. She said, are
you off your rocker, and you’d
just coughed, the weight of
the world on your shoulders.


Day 16

“Take the phrase “Play (blank),” replace the blank with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then write the poem. Possible titles include: “Play Nice,” “Play Fair,” “Play Hard,” “Play the Guitar,” etc.”
